Senior Journal’ broadcast schedule announced

    CRANSTON – Upcoming “Senior Journal” broadcasts will concentrate on Insight, a Warwick-based agency that promotes opportunities and independence for people with vision loss.
    “Senior Journal” host Libby Arron interviews Christopher Butler, executive director of Insight, in Part I of the program scheduled to air July 3 to 12. She interviews Butler and Paul Hopkins, an employee of the agency who is visually impaired, in Part II, which is expected to be broadcast July 17 to 26.

 

    "Senior Journal” is produced by senior volunteers and is sponsored by the state Department of Elderly Affairs, with the support of Rhode Island PBS and Rhode Island Public, Education and Government Access Television. Programs air on Sundays at 5 p.m., Mondays at 7 p.m. and Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. over statewide interconnect cable Channel 13 and Verizon Channel 32.

Original shows on stage at Pawtucket’s Mixed Magic Theatre

 

    PAWTUCKET – “Waiting for Bessie Smith” and “Shakespeare in the Spirit” are playing at Mixed Magic Theatre until June 28.   

   

Fund-raiser will salute George M. Cohan on June 12

 

    PROVIDENCE -- Sy and Judi Dill, a retired transplanted New York couple saw something missing when they moved here several years ago; there was nothing that recognized one of the region’s most notable native sons, George M. Cohan. They took it upon themselves to remedy the situation. Two years ago, a statue of Cohan was unveiled in the newly named George M. Cohan Plaza on Wickenden Street in Providence, near the performer's first home, commemorating his 1878 birth in Providence.

     

Moonlighters to kick off concert series on June 16

 

FOSTER – The fosteringArts’ concert series at Little Rhody Vasa Park kicks off June 16 with The Moonlighters Orchestra. The park is located at 10 Boswell Trail, and the free shows are scheduled to run from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m.

BRISTOL – Spectators can view the town’s famous July 4 parade in comfort and style at Linden Place, 500 Hope St.
