Proposed cut threatens care

Occasionally, I’ve used this column to tout the importance of accessible skilled nursing care for our state’s elderly and chronically ill. As we wind down the last few weeks of the 2012 legislative session, I can’t think of anything more important than underscoring the threats to long-term care that may become a reality in the coming weeks.

Keep up with grandkids with diet and exercise

On Mothers Day, I received a lovely framed picture of my first grandchild. The saying on the frame, “Life is better with grandkids,” is so true for me; but it got me thinking about my own grandparents. My grandfather used to sing to me and one of his favorites was “I’m Too Old to Cut the Mustard,” even though when he became a grandparent, he was no older than I am now.
