Coalition’s conference will enrich lives

On the Senior Agenda by William F. Flynn, Jr.

The Senior Agenda Coalition’s 5th Annual Senior Conference and Expo will be held on Nov. 2 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick. The conference is designed primarily for seniors and their caregivers and relatives rather than for professionals, although they are also welcome. Thanks to our sponsors and exhibitors we are able to offer a subsidized registration fee of $25 for everyone age 65 and older. That includes a high quality continental breakfast and lunch. I believe our conference is the only daylong event of its kind in Rhode Island.

Message: Postcards can deliver big bucks

Today's Antiques by Scott Davis

They’ve been around since the 1840s in London and a few years later in the U.S.  Postcards started out as an inexpensive way to send a brief message without the need for an envelope, but over time folks found many uses for them, including advertising, holiday greetings, invitations, and, of course, sharing travel experiences. Back in the day when taking pictures was a major production, postcards allowed folks to share professional images without having to lug and use their own camera equipment.

While there is a grave need to improve awareness of long-term care planning among all boomers, women in particular face significant challenges with living independently as they age.
