Serve RI kicks off 3-year effort

Rhode Island is underserved by volunteers. The state ranks 38th in the country for overall volunteerism and 45th for older adults. In an all-out effort to increase Rhode Island’s rate of volunteerism, at least to the national average, Serve Rhode Island (SRI) has launched the human kind experiment -- a three-year campaign to eliminate the “volunteer deficit” of 17,500 volunteers.

   We are about to enter another holiday season where food, shopping, gift giving and family gatherings will play an important part in our lives. However, preparation is more than planning and scheduling; it’s being emotionally and spiritually ready for the joy that’s possible and then creating that joy for ourselves and others.

    If you’re concerned with retirement issues, then one organization you definitely need to check out is the Senior Agenda Coalition of Rhode Island. The Senior Agenda is a diverse coalition of activists and groups that advocate for a common agenda, empowering people and organizations to move issues, promote legislation and influence policies of both public and private institutions.
