After announcing the New 7 Wonders of the World in 2007, the New7Wonders Foundation began worldwide voting to select the New 7 Wonders of Nature, a list of the seven most incredible natural wonders of the modern world. Voting ended on Nov. 11, when the following preliminary winners were announced: Amazon Rainforest (South America), Halong Bay (Vietnam), Iguazu Falls (Argentina/Brazil), Jeju Island (South Korea), Komodo (Indonesia), Puerta Princesa Subter-ranean River (Philippines) and Table Mountain (South Africa).

Advice to navigate busy travel season

    The holiday season means busy days at the airport. When you’re making air travel plans, remember that the busiest days are those immediately before and after a holiday. If you can, avoid those days; try to travel two or three days before or two or three days after, even consider traveling on the holiday itself if possible.

Disney establishes Hawaiian resort

    If you’re a Disney fan, there’s a new vacation experience awaiting you in Hawaii. Aulani is Disney’s first resort in the gorgeous Hawaiian Islands. The resort is located at the Ko Olina complex on the leeward (drier) side of the island of Oahu, less than 20 miles from the Honolulu International Airport.

D.C. arts institution is masterpiece

    The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., opened on Sept. 8, 1971, and has hosted thousands of performances by great artists from across America and the world during the past 40 years. The center, located on 17 acres that overlook the Potomac River, is the nation’s busiest arts facility.
